How we work

Making lasting positive impact by providing grants and scholarships to individuals and organizations that align with our goals. We are committed to empowering and fostering growth in one million entrepreneurs that are making a social impact and solving a sustainable development problem.

As a foundation, we have a comprehensive approach to grant and scholarship programs. Here's how we work:

Grants

We are dedicated to assisting entrepreneurs who are pushing technical innovation and aligning their businesses with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We believe that utilising technology and sustainable practises is critical for effecting meaningful and long-term change in our society. Through our funding programs, we provide financial support to entrepreneurs who are at the forefront of developing technology-driven solutions that address the challenges outlined by the SDGs. These solutions can span various sectors, including but not limited to education, healthcare, renewable energy, environmental conservation, social justice, and so on

Scholarship

We firmly think that education can have a great impact on people, enabling them to develop, be successful, and realise their potential. Our scholarship programme, which is deeply committed to empowering students, provides a way for deserving people to obtain higher education and realise their limitless potential. Our main goal is to provide opportunities for qualified applicants who have the tenacity and will to succeed both academically and professionally. By providing scholarships, we hope to lower financial obstacles and give deserving people the chance to pursue their academic goals. This will allow them to reach their full potential and leave a lasting impression in their chosen industries.

More about our grant selection process

Our grant selection process for entrepreneurs involves a thorough evaluation of business proposals and business pitch. Other factors are considered such as innovation, market potential, scalability, and social impact. Finalists are evaluated by a judge in the industry to critic and give their feedback in alignment with our mission. Selected entrepreneurs receive financial support and mentorship to fuel their ventures' success.

How we collaborate with grantees

As a foundation, we foster collaborative relationships with our grantees, engaging in open dialogue, sharing expertise, and providing ongoing support. By working together, we strive for meaningful social impact, empower our grantees to achieve their goals and create positive change in their communities.

How we Choose

The Grant can be awarded to any business with a formal and recognized judicial and organizational structure contributing to the overall objective of the grant. The Grant will be awarded to any qualified candidate with business resident in sub-Saharan Africa.
- Selection

  • The project or organization seeking the grant should clearly demonstrate how their businsss is technologically inclined or how it contribute to one or more specific Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nations.
  • Ability to provide a vital source of income and/or employment in measurable terms
  • Increased awareness and cooperation among African audiences and organizations
  • Proven leadership potential of the individual or organization, particularly the ability to persevere despite significant challenges or risks.
  • Proven tangible results, scalability and value creation derived from candidate’s work either directly or indirectly
  • We shall give consideration to circumstances under which the project has been carried out and results achieved.
  • How we Measure and evaluate results

We are accommodating and do not demand that our grantees report to us on every project. Nevertheless, we provide our grantees with ongoing mentoring, and we anticipate that after they receive their grant, they will put their ideas into action and invite the foundation along so we can monitor and assess them. One of our award recipients in January wasted no time in putting her grant to the best possible use. She made an instant investment in growing her business by opening her walk-in store, rebranding, and adding new, inventive items, and we can quantify results through these actions.
